Nigella seeds - Kalonji - Cudpahnut

These are onion seeds and are small, black and irregular in shape. It can be roasted or can be used dry.
It is used in curries, pickles, vegetables and is 1 of the most important ingredient of panch phoran.
It is also scattered on naan or parathas (Indian Bread) and are also sprinkled on sandwiches, which gives it a peppery flavor.
